On Tuesday the 9th July 2013, Elephant Family hosted The Animal Ball, a party with a purpose to celebrate and save some of the most endangered wildlife on the planet! Hosted at Clarence and Lancaster House in the presence of TRH The Prince of Wales & The Duchess of Cornwall, the ball has so far raised over £600,000 for conservation projects across Asia, including a project to secure a habitat corridor in Assam, India - a lifeline for over 1,500 endangered Asian elephants.Guests including Cara Delevingne, Poppy Delevingne, Jerry Hall and Rupert Everett were adorned in a menagerie of masks created by the world’s top milliners, designers and artists. I was thrilled to be asked to make a mask for such a prestigious event and to raise money for such a worth while cause. The grand hall was rocked out by Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, comprising a 20 piece ensemble, and an exclusive set from Patrick Wolf and Sophia Brous
My mask took its inspiration from the Poison Dart Frog, an endangered species with the most amazing skin colours!
I made this top hat for a very special dog called Tommy. Tommy was born with a severe deformity in his back legs. His legs are turned inwards and his back is at an angle. The vets have said there is no reason to worry and he is happy as he is and not in any pain. Tommy is working hard to promote Furry Friends Rescue as this is the rescue that saved him from death. Tommy was at a pound in Ireland and his time was up (dogs that have been there for too long are euthanized). Due to his disability, the pound thought he would not have a chance at finding happiness, but he was in luck! Furry Friends Rescue heard about Tommy and took him in so he is safe and will be for the rest of his life. He now lives with one of the workers at Furry Friends rescue.
